IDT Expands Minutes to Mobile Platform Adds Claro and Voilà to Offering |
NEWARK, NJ (July 7, 2010) IDT Telecom, a subsidiary of IDT Corporation (NYSE:IDT, IDT.C) says it has significantly expanded its “IDT Minutes to Mobile” international mobile top-up services. “IDT Minutes to Mobile” offers ways for consumers in the United States, United Kingdom and Spain to stay in touch with friends and family living in other countries.
“IDT Minutes to Mobile” customers can purchase mobile minutes via top-up cards, electronic pins or P.O.S.A. cards from retailers and transfer these minutes to the mobile phones of friends and families on the networks of select carriers overseas in real time. Recharge values range from $5 to $15 depending on the carrier.
The “IDT Minutes to Mobile” program, launched in the fall of 2007, initially allowed customers in the United States to recharge the mobile phones of Tigo customers in Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador and Colombia. Now, “IDT Minutes to Mobile” has expanded to include service with Claro (with customers in Nicaragua, Guatemala, Honduras, and El Salvador), Globe (in the Philippines) and Voilà (operating in Haiti). The European service launched in June 2010 and allows customers in the United Kingdom and Spain to recharge the mobile phones of Globe customers in the Philippines.
“Mobile phones are often the most important lifeline for family and friends back home to stay connected with loved ones in the U.S.,” said Yona Katz, IDT Telecom’s COO. “Our priority is to provide great value and quality products that meet our customers’ unique needs. The ‘IDT Minutes to Mobile’ top-up service does just that by allowing consumers to benefit from the convenience of reloading their families’ and friends’ mobile phones from the United States, UK and Spain in real time.”
