Trinity Convergence, Inc., a provider of voice and video over IP (V2IP) software solutions, has released VeriCall 4.0, a turnkey voice-over-IP (VoIP) software framework for manufacturers of telecommunications infrastructure and enterprise equipment. VeriCall 4.0 expands the feature set of the previous generation of VeriCall to offer equipment manufacturers a software platform for developing wired and wireless VoIP products such as wireless gateways, integrated access devices (IADs), IP-PBXs and media gateways. New VeriCall feature enhancements include support for multi-party conferencing and caller ID (CLID), as well as integration with the Freescale MSC8122 digital signal processor (DSP).

Carrier One, a Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) reseller offering high capacity enhanced telecommunications services, has selected Transaction Network Services (TNS) to provide VoIP call routing and validation services via TNS’ Least Cost Routing (LCR) SS7 network platform. TNS’ LCR solution will assist them in routing calls, while the TNS validation solution provides a simple internet interface and allows Carrier One the ability to pass database information through to its customers and affiliates. Carrier One expects to send between one to five million LCR queries per month over the TNS network.

Vonage, a broadband phone company, and VTech, a supplier of corded and cordless phones in North America, have announced that the IP-8100-2, cordless broadband phone system configured with Vonage’s flat-rate full-featured phone service will be available at over 8,000 retailers July 24, 2005. This product, configured with the Texas Instruments (TI) TNETV1060 VoIP chipset, has a Retail Price of $149.99, and offers $50 mail in rebate after sixty days of service.

India’s incumbent international operator, VSNL, has agreed to buy Teleglobe, the largest international voice over IP (VoIP) carrier -- and former Canadian monopoly overseas voice carrier. Should the deal meet with shareholder approval and pass regulatory review, the merged company -- which also includes the recently integrated Tyco Global Network -- would become one of the largest multinational providers of voice, Internet, and bandwidth services.

Caritas Technologies, Inc., the owner of a series of patents related to Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) technology and its connection to the public telephone network, has filed suit for patent infringement against Comcast Corporation in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Texas. The suit alleges that the new Comcast Digital Voice service infringes Caritas’s patent rights. In 2004. Comcast has announced plans to market the service to 15 million homes with access to its systems by the end of 2005 and 40 million through 2006.

APEX Voice Communications, a supplier of enhanced multi-services platforms worldwide, will hold its 2005 APEX Technology Conference (ATC) for Latin America from August 22-24 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel & Resort at Sawgrass Mills, in Sunrise (Ft. Lauderdale), Florida. The three-day event, which will be held in Spanish for current customers, will include APEX presentations on its Multi-Services Platform, its Service-Ready Solutions, and its Media Server Software, as well as presentations from APEX Value Added Resellers and Technology Partners.
